Iran's Mana Energy Pak (MEP Cell) company recently opened and operated a photovoltaic cell production plant in Khomeín, western Iran, with an initial annual production capacity of 150MW. Iranian Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian and other officials attended the opening ceremony of the plant.

Mehrabian said: "When we answer questions about the impact of using fossil energy, including water resources and fuel consumption, environmental pollution and other issues, and the use of renewable energy power is the answer to all these problems.
We are committed to providing comprehensive support for the production of photovoltaic panels and the accelerated deployment of renewable energy. The initial annual production capacity of this photovoltaic cell production plant opened in Homeen was 150MW. After the expansion, the annual production capacity will eventually reach 1.5GW. "
Sejak awal tahun 2020, Mana Energy Pak telah berusaha sedaya upaya untuk membina kilang pengeluaran ini dengan keluaran tahunan akhir modul fotovoltaik 1.5GW, dan pembinaannya akan dimuktamadkan pada penghujung 2023. Kilang itu akan menjadi kilang pertama yang mengeluarkan sel fotovoltaik di Iran dan Timur Tengah.
Iran masih belum mencapai matlamatnya iaitu 5 peratus tenaga elektriknya daripada sumber tenaga boleh diperbaharui. Pertubuhan Tenaga Boleh Diperbaharui dan Kecekapan Tenaga Iran (SATBA) baru-baru ini telah menawarkan penggunaan kemudahan penjanaan tenaga tenaga boleh diperbaharui 10GW dalam tempoh 4 tahun akan datang, dan menerima bidaan untuk 80GW pada bulan Disember.
Iran's Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian stated that Iran will increase the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation facilities by more than 50 percent next summer to 1.4GW.
